Motorcycles are alpha

Motorcycles are alpha, or so the world tells me. I have been on dirt bikes and motorcycles my whole life so while extremely enjoyable, they aren’t a big deal to me, However, when thinking about it, they are most assuredly alpha. They are inherently more dangerous then cars and trucks and risk taking equals masculinity.  Bikes require an ability to endure the elements. You have to endure sun and heat, small rocks and large bugs to the face, being pelted with the rain while doing 55 mph and fight the 85 mph wind trying to push you backwards for hours at a time.  It takes a higher degree of skill and situational awareness to be on a bike. Being on a bike sets you apart from the herd and in some ways defies society’s expectations and norms. Those are alpha traits all day long, but more then possessing any of those masculine traits, being on a bike demonstrates those things. Women are not subtle, generally speaking and most displays of masculinity need to be overt. Not in a boorish or frat boy manner, not when you are 43 or 33, but they cannot leave room for doubt because doubting is what women do. Doubt feeds her hamster and the damn thing is large enough

Bikes don’t get you laid. Bikes get you noticed and getting noticed gets you laid. Most girls know nothing about bikes and in very real ways it doesn’t matter what you ride as long as you are on a sport bike or cruiser. Your Vespa, adventuring/ touring/dual sport or enduro bike looks awkward and goofy. Trikes…. are for old fat guys with old fat chicks. Can Am Spyper’s  are for middle age dudes who lack the sack to get on two wheels. That Rebel 250 is great on gas, and fun to ride in its own right but looks like something she has seen the teaming unwashed masses in China ride. Sport bikes looks fast, agile, athletic. Masculine traits women dig. Cruisers look…. a lot of of things, all of them powerful and masculine. I like cruisers with saddle bags, wing screens, highway pegs, heel toe shifter…. Big, heavy, powerful and comfy to be on for hours a day.

Sport bikes vs cruisers, which one gets you noticed the most? Its a bullshit question. Different girls are going to be into different kinds of bikes. Sport bikes might have the edge in urban settings, I don’t know, but I can tell you no college girl has turned up her nose because I was on a cruiser. If she did, I reckon its more about my over all vibe vs what she likes then the bike. Sport bikes are seen as more urban, young, yuppyish if you will. Your bike needs to match you and your style. If its out of place, chicks will pick up on that. They can smell try harder like sharks smell blood. I think cruisers have one advantage over sports bikes, Comfort for the girl when she is on back.

Brands. Most girls are not going to give a damn what brand ride. I own two Harley’s, sort of the gold standard for brand recognition in the usa, but the girls don’t care unless they are into bikes in her own right and stuck on status symbols at the same time. A small number indeed. In all my years I have seen one girl stuck on a brand and that was Ducati. She said they were orgasms on wheels. She seemed to like my cruiser well enough…….  Bikes don’t need to be customized or even in great condition. Guys on rat rod style bikes get a lot of attention, guys on custom bikes get a lot of attention, guys on sports bikes get a lot….. Got the point?

Besides demonstrating masculine traits a bike brings you three other tangible SMP advantages. #1 you always have something to do on a date. I’ve not yet meet the girl who wasn’t ok with a 30 mile ride for milkshakes as a date. My bike gets 32 miles to the gallon and milkshakes aren’t expensive either. You can extend that out as well.  #2, it gives you something to talk about. When all else fails and you need to keep a conversation going, you can always talk about your last ride, getting stuck in the rain or a close call you avoided with your skills and dare doing. Lastly it gives her something to crow about when she is talking to her gal pals about you. She tells them she rode to the next town over on the back of a bike and suddenly she is an adventurer and you’re romantic and spontaneous.

Spartan Life

Someone on just for guys used the term and it got me a wondering. Outside of my peer group, my father, my son ( who are also peers), I care about what men long dead would potentially think about my life more then most men walking. It is important my forefathers look down from Valhalla and understand how I live and why. From my late Grandfather to my long dead forefathers who rode with Lee, Jackson, Mosby and Hill, to the Ulster Scots who came out of the mountains to kill Englishmen for sport during the American Revolution, to the way back men who crossed the sea in longboats and who crossed the river Tweed to give the English hell, and checked the Romans before them, to those ideological forefathers who stood in the phalanx.

All would understand my profession and my commitment to my trade. Perhaps the way I train would be considered Spartan compared to how most folks live. I have trained most of the day. I woke up early and dragged the sled. At work I volunteered to be the demo shooter; even men at this level do not want to spend much extra time in the North Carolina summer sun. At lunch I hit the kettlebells, and I did farmers walk this evening around 6pm or so. I still felt pretty good so I moved on to hammering a tire with a sludge hammer for…. how ever long the Texas Hippie Collation cd lasted ( is it still a cd when you are using itunes?) 30 swings per arm per song then taking a break for water after 60 reps and going back to work. I fired 300 rounds of 5.56 and about 200 rounds of 9mm. Not bad for being on the clock. Yes I think the would understand. The Spartans would understand why I pour cold water on my body after I train three days a week, why I train out doors as much a I can, why I keep my feet and hands accustomed to hard labor. They would understand my focus on strength training vs appearance oriented gym stuff like body building and what not. I reckon they would only partially understand my politics ( Southern Nationalist and Kinist). Perhaps they’d understand my faith, being feed up with a pathetic Christian church and even more pathetic Christian men, enjoying the company of Pagan’s but not sharing their faith. I reckon my ancestors from far enough would understand my tattoos, all would understand my love of dogs, horses, and kids. The would understand how I love my small farm and rural life.

I have taken a Spartan approach to my fiances as well. I had let thing slip for awhile. Been lose on spending money. Nothing major but its rarely the major things that give us trouble in life. So I made the decision to tighten my shit up. I recently sold all my bikes but my FatBoy and RoadKing and put the money in the bank ( ie my gun safe). This has also saved me about $500 a year on insurance as well. I am committed to selling my Mustang soon, and will add that to the gun safe as well. That will save me a ton of money on gas, and reduce insurance cost a goodly amount. I want one more road trip in the Cobra before I sell it. Me, my three girls, the top down and drive up to Appalachia. I should sell my truck in the next three days, have an agreed to price from a guy I work with. I will be getting a 91 single cab Toyota 4 wheel drive pick up come Monday or Tuesday of next week. This will put another chunk of changes in the bank for me. 8 years ago I was destitute and filing bankruptcy. Now I have a home on nearly 5 acres that I owe $57k on, money in the bank bank, money in the bank I trust, gold, silver and looking to pay the home off maybe in a year or so. Depends if I can get cleared medically to go back down range.  I am in the best financial shape of my life despite my ruined credit and $1200 a month in alimony. In fact this is the best I have ever been. Not just money but on every front.

This has helped my relationships as well. As I have l cleaned up the slop in my spending and shed luxury items ( bikes, truck and car) my beloveds have tightened up their life. One is done with drinking Coke and the like and back in the gym twice a day.  The two with student loans have taken paying off their college debt more serious. This is a twofer because the best place to cut money is going out to eat for lunch. Now both are packing lunches to work and this will help them keep fit. The same two girls are finally getting more disciplined about domestic stuff, one much more so.

Do I live a Spartan life? In some areas clearly. However I am typing this on a high tech thinking machine, while laying on a $2000 foam mattress and my a/c set as low as it goes. If I were to chose a grandiose word to describe my life it would be adventurer
