Making of a pua

TR is a long term friend of mine. By long term I mean we have known each other for damn near our whole lives. Way back in the day, he was the kind of guy girls were supposed to want. Decent looking, fun, respectful, church going, not prone to over indulging but no prude either, careful with his money, level headed, big hearted….. all that shit that doesn’t count for much but bitches say they want. We both joined the Army together, we each spent some time in the same Ranger Batt, hell even the same platoon for 3 years until promotions and specialization took us different routes. He got busted up, re-classed into aviation and got out. Then his marriage fell apart and onto the open market he went. And he did pretty well. Took him maybe 3 months to adjust to his new fiscal situation and then he went a courting. Lesser alpha/ greater beta sort of well, never going long without finding an age appropriate 6/7 to settle into an ltr with. And every one of the bitches walked. One chick walked around The 10 month mark she his small business collapsed. The max was 18 months or so. Which was his most recent. One week he is the best man and lover she has known, taking her semi autistic son camping and 4 wheeling, telling him she loves it when he comes in her etc etc and next week (when she went back to college) she is flaking on him left and right. When he called her on it she did all the typical shit, I will always love you baby but I don’t want to be hurt, then she wanted more attention, then she wanted to go out more…… good bye baby I will always love you etc etc.

What a cunt. We all know she meet a bigger better deal. Or her friends not liking him took a toll but that shit about always loving him forever is pure bullshit. If she was capable of doing that she wouldn’t have walked. And that line is what pissed him off. Girls come and go and he knows within a week he’ll be back out and fucking a new chick but the lies add up. Soooo he used her toothbrush to clean his dogs teeth, packed up her shit, told her to pick it all up and went out. From break up to fucking a 5 in 4 hours or less on a Wednesday night.

For the now TR is done being nice to women. How long it will last is anyone’s guess but this shit adds up and is slow to fade. Like I said, I have known TR my whole life. He was never particularly hard hearted but he is now. This past weekend he went out on a blind date. Friends set him up with a rather attractive girl 2 years older then him who still had a flat belly and a decent ass with an ok rack . He had a good time and asked the girl if they could do it again. She said no, I’m 5’9″, wear 3 inch heels and don’t like looking down on my dates. He got up, left her with the bill and went to go find some ass at a bar 2 doors down.

That’s bad ass right there.

I have read small scale debates on whether puas are born or made. My money is on made. Mostly made. No way to really quantify that, it’s all based on observations. I know a few naturals who crushed a lot of ass, then married, some still married some not but the naturals I know have high but not extremely high N counts. Quality women pull them off the market. I know 3 guys who are married with kept women, 2 are older men who wives are over the sex thing but not the high income lifestyle. I know one life time player who was never married. All the other guys I know with high N counts got there because they were high value enough to pull bitches but not so high value the bitches didn’t play games or move on.

Soyboy….

Soyboy…. I like the term. It’s funny as hell and I was onto the dangers of soy consumption pretty early so i get to do a little extra crowing but soy boy status is serious shit for men.

The problem is less that there are soy boys around, because there has always been useless men, and more about how most men are bitches. Most of the men who think they arent a soy boy fall top dead center into the soy boy category and never realize it because the hallmarks for masculine behaviour have been reduced to near on zero.

Let me explain. Odds are good you read soy boy, thought of pajama boy and laughed and let’s face it he deserves to be laughed at. Women do (or did) their thing to police the herd, boys and men “bully” to police the wolf pack. So you laugh at him and maybe said thank God I aint one of them pathetic dudes.

Well….what do you do on the regular that is robustly masculine? From what I can tell most men’s anti soy boy claim is based on some weak ass shit like the kind of office job they do, beer they drink, played some sport in school, lifting free weights and maybe voting for trump….. all of it weak mother-fucking-sauce my friend. I love booze, beef, cigars and gym time but none of that would have impressed our forefathers but here is the good news. This ain’t nothing you can’t fix.

Now everything I am fixing to say is based on physically healthy adult men. You’lose no status with The Ton for being born crippled, being elderly or being busted up from shit like car accidents, IED’s and the like. We ain’t all dealt the same cards and we all move in and out various positions in life. It ain’t a big deal and it ain’t any kind of shame

The shame lies in wallowering in your soy boyhood.

Three things separate men from soy boys. #1 your capacity and talent for violence, enduring long term exposure to harsh envriomets and facing serious risk to life and limb on the regular. Normally you can’t really separate those three masculine foundations, but sometimes they are. Nor does a man have to go to any real extremes to move from bitch to legit. Get a 3 star rating on all the man card items and you’ll be the type of man most men will want in their platoon

Violence is a man’s 1st job. His 1st responsibility to himself and others in his crew. Violence is how you keep other dudes from monkey stomping your ass, stealing your shit, raping your bitches and enslaving your get. Being a civilized society we mostly farm that shit out to other men these days but nothing changes the golden rule as in violence is golden. If you are the kind of guy who has to call 911 when someone kicks in your door…. guess what?
You’re a bitch. If you are the kind of guy who has to turn the other cheek vs choosing to turn the other cheek you are a bitch.

Here at Camp Ton Coastal we live in a 2 story home, which sits up on top of some stilts. Same as the other 6 houses on this stretch of inter coastal bliss. If someone were to kick in the door while we are all up stairs, tucked into our comfy space age foam mattress beds… well I would stay up stairs, have one of The Girls call 911 and kill the motherfuckers the second they step foot on the stairs leading up to my family.

If we were sitting on the deck, watching the world go buy and someone kicks in the front door…. them cats anti nothing but paper targets at that point.

Wouldn’t really work that way though. Who ever breaks into my place will be doing me a favor. I have pit bulls and presa’s to feed. The reduction in dog food expenses would be welcome

Any rate. The difference here is threat level vs paper work. I have no moral issues with killing someone because they broke into your house to steal your tv. That’s a fair trade in my book. What I don’t want to waste time on is the legal bullshit. Reasonable and prudent given how laws protect the wrong sort of people these days

You are a bitch if your only choice is to call 911 because you lack the tools, training and mind set to defend what is yours.

Same with turning the other cheek. You cannot turn the other cheek if you lack the capacity for retribution. Christ turned the other cheek ( @ that moment in time) while possessing power beyond our comprehension. It’s cool if some guy pissed you off and you elect to let shit slide because it ain’t worth the legal hassle to you or it’s a religious commandment. If you have to let shit slide because you can’t brawl….. well you know the deal. And the worst kind of chumps church up their bitch status with religious edicts

While violence is the corner stone of masculine sovereignty and manhood it is also the easiest deficit to overcome here in the usa. There aren’t to many places where you can’t find a good pistol and good tactical pistol training. An intro class and a tactical class with the occasional refresher course and you have the needed basics covered. However that ain’t enough to move up to full on man status. Those schools give you skillz, they don’t do much to delvope the proper mind set.

Fighting takes you from bitch to bull faster the anything else on God’s green earth. Good fight training isn’t hard to find. Skip all the who flung dung bullshit. Learning how to spar, fight for points, bow or how to do funny zipper head dances called katas ain’t worth much. You need to get involved with a club which produces real fighters. Boxing, kicking boxing, ju-jisitu or MMA. Take your pick, 75 mins of either, 3 times a week and in 6 months your balls will start to descend. Start thinking about getting into the ring around the 6 month mark, get in the ring a good 5 or so times. Win loose or draw, your man cred will be on the rise after the 6 month point and fully established by year two/ fight number 3.

Fighting like this does the most for your man cred because fighting requires all the masculine virtues. The training is tough as hell. Builds ups your body, mind and soul. Around the 6 month time frame you will be in a position to actually choose turning the other cheek. Your hard heart and strong mind will drive your body past its old pain threshold. Your hard heart and strong mind will drive you to overcome the fear of pain, the fear of defeat and your 1st win will take you to the pinnacle of masculine pride and joy.

I talk mostly about brawling because that’s what I know best, from a professional and personal level, but its is only one piece of the puzzle. There are other things, and I will write on those other things as time permits.

I also want to offer a word of caution. Well a couple of them. #1 be smart. Pick a good fight club to train in. Don’t try to go from 200 pounds of flabbby bitch to UFC in 3 weeks. #2 & this is for the older guys…. a lot of older guys basically say “I did this that or the other thing in high school or college and therefore not a soy boy”. I call bullshit. Men don’t get to live in the past. As we age our status as men rest on different things but we can never get to far away from the foundational principles of violence, disregard for personal safety and the ability to endure harships. We don’t engage in those things as often, we don’t need to be as good as it them as we use to but we must retain the ability to do them effectively when required plus we have the additional responsibilites of leadership and authority. We no longer just do the hard, dangerous and dirty bullshit of life. We also make the decisions no one else wants to make.

We don’t get to rest on our lurals until old age betrays us or the Good Lord takes us home.

The Ton on the value of men

I am The Ton mother fucker! And I value men based on one factor alone.

Does he have https://tonsplace.wordpress.com/2017/04/18/game-dog-game-humility-and-who-to-trust-how-far-to-trust-him/

I value men based on their innate desire to cross the ring in order to destroy the other guy, his ability to ignore pain, exhaustion, fear and injury. Will he keep fighting even if he’s already dead on his feet? Would he rather die or be in jail then break faith with his brothers? That’s it. The complete value of a man. Will he fight when we fight? Will he lie to the cops and his old lady for the sake of his crew? Not for his own well being mind you but for his brothers. Does he got that shit when he looks you in the eye and says don’t worry brother, I got this shit?

Those are the kind of men to honor and call brother. Those are the kind of men to respect even when they are on the other end of your gun

Alpha? Beta? The Ton has 0 fucks to give about that shit. Can a man brawl? Does he fight hard even when hes getting monkey stomped? Does he ride hard, shot straight and always report the truth? Does he keep the faith with his crew? That is the sum total of a man’s value.

This is also on a sliding scale. We don’t owe these things to all men. Just the men in our crew. You owe the most to the man beside you. Next is the guys on your fireteam. Then your squad, your platoon etc etc. By the time that shit is spread out…. well you don’t owe that much to the guys in the same division vs you the guys on your gun crew.

Got it?

Well it don’t work that way with women. Women being inferior beings in all ways possible, cannot understand brotherhood or how to correctly value a man. Now they do get off on men who are good at being a man but it’s temporary. The more time she spends around him the more she will see he is less then perfect and when that equation tilts enough, the vag dries up and she will betray him in large ways and small

When a man is your brother he is your brother until he breaks the faith. Does he suck with a shotgun? Doesn’t fucking matter, he’s your brother and he keeps the faith. He can’t ride as hard as you? Doesn’t fucking matter because he keeps the faith. Does he drink to much and pass out on panic tables like it’s his full time job? Doesn’t matter as long as he keeps the faith with his crew. Does he annoy the shit out you because he talks to much? Doesn’t fucking matter because he keeps the faith with his brothers and you can trust him to the end.

Being good at being a man and keeping faith with his brothers is the complete value of a man according to the Ton Value System.

The Ton on MGTOW

As I have stated before, The Ton supports the sovereignty of men. In this case it means allowing men to pick their own path through these mine fields called…. well shit. There are a metric fuck ton of mine fields and a man has to get through them all on the natural talent, skills, desire and drive the Almight God has blessed them with but what I want to talk about here is the reasons why men walk away from women. Not why they walk away from individual women but why we walk away from women in general.

Over at Spawny’s, Cill implies he is going his own way over the legal risks involved in dealing with women. Legit. There is no need to rehash the legal downfalls for men regarding divorce laws, domestic violence, child custody etc etc. This #metoo bullshit is another demonstration of why men don’t ask out girls at work…. or be alone wiith a chick from work etc all. For Cill, regert rape seems to be a primary driver, which I get. I have seen 4 guys get sides ways with women and regret rape. Two men were banging married ladies, one kept fucking way drunk chicks and I had my own set of issues with a girl who was two drunk to fuck but accused me of raping her. It was a girl I had been talking to but not fucked, way back when my divorce wasn’t final yet and I bought into dumb shit like the 3 date rule. Any rate she showed up at my house at random, way fucked up on booze and what I assume were pills and way to fucked up to drive home. So I put her to bed, fully clothed and when I woke her up she was naked and accusing me of rape. I called her a cunt, threw her cellphone at her…. well bounced it off her head and told her to call the cops because I wanted a rape kit used her her wretched cunt right the fuck now. She flipped her script and started to apologize to me. I kept it up until she left the house. Then she texted me a bunch of apologizes, which I did the screen capture deal and forward the texts messages to my lawyer and emailed them to myself and bail bailbondsmen.

The Ton don’t fucking play but that ain’t the point.

Way I reckon things most men have not ghosted from the SMP due to regert rape worries. I doubt most men ghost over a single event. My guess is, most men hit some straw that broke the camel’s back deal and while that last straw might look like the sole reason, I am fair certain it is not.

Men leave the SMP for one reason…. The likely return on their investment isn’t there. That’s it. LOL no building up to the grand reveal there. I dont think most men worry about regert rape because they don’t get that close to getting laid. They are much more worried about getting hit with a sexual harassment case because they fucked up their approach on the cute chick 3 cubicles over. Men don’t want to marry because of the huge amount of bullshit that comes with it… ie wives who nag and don’t put out not to mention the joys of divorce rape coming their way after years of nagging and not getting laid. Men don’t ask girls out because the cute girl 3 cubicles over comes with a possible sexual harassment claim, they don’t ask the waitress out because she is 30 pounds overweight, they don’t ask their sister’s bestie out because that bitch has more nuts and bolts in her face then my 55 T-bird. The girl at the gym glares daggers at him when he held the door for her, the girl at the grocery store has 3 half orc kids and no idea which orc spawned them and the girl at the library is on more brain meds then he can count without taking off his boots. He finally gets a date with a 7 but after laying down $400 for 5 nights out, he has blue balls and less money but what the hell? The “its not you, it’s me” speech and a request to remain life long friends is a great consolation prize. He gets a date with a 6 and she spends the whole night bitching about her ex and fiddle fucking with her iphone. Then she melts down about where are all the real men when he wants to split the tab on an evening that had no joy for him. 10 months later he tries to arrange a coffee date with another 6 but she flakes because she doesn’t want to go out with some cheap ass motherfucker who want drop $100 on a 1st date with her glorious self.

And there you go, the pyramid of MGTOW. For most men. * Just about every man I know is going his own way. By that I mean, I know 2 dudes who want to get married. The rest of the men I know, young and old are not out there deliberately looking for a wife. A few are damn determined not to marry/ remarry as the case may be but most not planning on marriage one way or the other. It’s simply a non issue for them. Now granted I don’t know any dude in meat space who uses the term MGTOW, but every dude I know but 2 are MGTOW as their default setting regarding marriage. They all want pussy but none but 2 own up to wanting a wife. I reckon a few dudes will end up married, most will end up with a string of ltr’s of varying length.

Welcome to the new normal

Vehicle recovery operations

Vehicle recovery operations….. The back story to this post is helping a guy help a guy get his luxury SUV out of the sand. Not even sure of the brand of the SUV. They aren’t my thing and forgein shit really ain’t my thing but it was 4wheel drive and shouldn’t have gotten stuck. Which brings me to my main point

Don’t get stuck. Easier said the done? Nope. Learn a little about off roading and don’t do dumbshit. I don’t rock climb or go mudding which are different critters entirely but I also don’t get stuck very often because I don’t do dumb shit and I have never needed help getting out of the shit I got myself into. Fact is I get down this stretch of beach in 2 wheel drive so the SUV should have made the trip. Main reason he failed? Lack of experience. The driver had never been off road before, had all the air in his tires, tried to cross the little mini berms other trucks made before him instead of following a proven route because he didnt like how the tire groves messed with his steering and when he got stuck he stomped on the throttle, causing the wheels to spin and dig down deeper for nothing.

Guy #2 had a jeep which was more show then go. It was 4wheel drive, had some extra lift and bigger tires so the sand was no problem but he had a small winch. Not to small just for the much heavier SUV but just to damn small for much of anything. Why? Because he didn’t understand how friction adds weight to the load. In practical terms at any rate. Friction from sand adds about 25% to the weight of your truck, mud adds 50% or more. Mud can be some nasty shit and has stopped more then one army over the years.

Outside of being a Vet and knowing where to go for the information, the army does a damn good job of explaining certian things. One of their better reads is FM 20-22….. Vehicle recovery operations. You can find it online easy as pie. Hell TC 21-305 will even cover the basics of off road driving and I promise you, unless you off road as a sport, the basics and common sense is all you need

Make sure you put your truck in 4wheel drive before you need it. Its pretty standard to let 2/3’s of the air out of your tire before you drive on sand or mud. I don’t let air out myself, but I have aggressive off road tires on my truck and a shit ton of experience. I do carry an air pump you plug into the cigarette liter, but even better I know where to get air a mile or three from where I camp and fish. A few miles of slow speed driving on hard top roads while low on air won’t hurt. Much.

The best thing you can do if you are stuck is stop. The more you try to fight out of it the worse the problem will get. Stop soon enough and you can shove branches or 2×4’s under the tires and away you go.

I carry some 2×4’s in my truck(6). I have holes drilled into them so I can tie them to each other and them to the truck. Last time I got stuck was because I went through some heavy clay/ mud before trying to drive up a rather long sand hill. The tread was full of clay and I got no traction in the sand. Once my forward progress stopped, I stopped, put the 2×4’s under my tires, tied the the boards to each other, them to my truck and off I went. To the top of the hill, dragging the 2×4’s behind me. Which is handy so you don’t have to go back and get them. Don’t get much simpler then that

Next on my list of gear is a Hi-lift jack. . Ain’t nothing but an old school tractor jack but they are rugged as fuck and can be used as a come along too. If I got stuck deeper then the 2×4’s would do for, I’d jack up my truck, then stick the wood under the tires and drive out of it.

My least favorite method is winching. It’s a pain in the ass. I have a 12,000 pound military grade hydraulic winch. It’s a fucking beast. It’s also over kill but I got the damn thing for free so what the hell…. plus nothing works better then over kill. Any rate I have a 6000 pound truck, and realistically don’t need anymore then a 9000 pound winch, weight of my truck plus 50% extra for friction caused by mud or sand. A 9000 pound winch will do everything you need to do… plus I am fixing to teach you how to cheat and double that. Buy a 9000 pound electric winch, read up on it and follow the duty cycle when you use it…. duty cycle is the work vs rest time for the electric motor in the winch

Not only is 9000 pounds enough winch to solve your problems, it’s easy to support regarding rigging. You can find 10,000 pound shackles, wire rope, chain and tow straps with ease at anything like a tractor supply store. I have 4 shackles on my truck, 2 front and 2 back to hook up to if I need to winch myself out of something. Use 10,000 pound shackles to match your 9000 pound winch without worrying to much about shit breaking. Don’t ever attach a winch cable to two points on your truck. You’ll stretch your trucks frame which ain’t good. I would put two 10 foot lengths of 10,000 pound chain in your truck. Make sure each length of chain has grab hooks on each end…. grab hooks which will grab the chain itself. I’d also get a goodly length of 10000 pound eye to eye nylon strap. This gives you options on what you tie off to.

Now…. here is how you ccheat your winch into doubling it’s capacity….. The word is Snatch Block which will double your pulling capacity through the magic of mechanical advantage…. that FM 20-22 will explain the how and the why of it but basically it allows you to add a second line of wire rope off your winch to give you a combined pulling power of 18000 pounds. Fuck you mud! But this is where that warning about never hooking up a winching cable to two places on your truck. That 18000 pounds of pulling will fuck up your frame

How to use the snatch block…. well you set up your winch anchor point…. which is any damn thing you would use to tie into to so the winch can do it’s magic. Then instead of hooking your winch up to the anchor point you hook the snatch block to the anchor point, run your wire rope through the snatch block and back to ONE of the shackles on your truck. 18000 pounds of pulling power. Now some folks will make the case that you only use a snatch block when you need the extra force. To that I say… fuck no snake. Use that bitch every time.

Out there on your own and no truck or big ass tree to use as an anchor point? Get something like this

Personally I love this kind of shit and camping, off roading etc is easier to get into then a lot of stuff out there but I also think these sort of things are entry level man card shit…. old school knowledge damn near every man use to know. It’s the kind of toxic masculinity shit that makes vags drip and soy boys feel even worse about themselves

Ranger the fuck up my friends

Game Dog Game, humility and who to trust, how far to trust him

A man should have Game. No, not talking about picking up bitches sort of game. Game Dog Game, an innate desire to cross the ring in order to destroy the other guy, ignoring pain, exhaustion, fear and injury. I promise you, if you have Game Dog kind of  Game picking up bitches ain’t going to be a problem. A dog with Game will do this for an hour if that’s what it takes.  Ultimately a man should have “Dead Game”; the desire to keep fighting and trying to kill/ win/ succeed despite being mortally wounded yourself.

Some Game Dogs are barnstormers, meaning they come out of the gate and quickly kill or incapacitate the other dog. They are bad ass, but do they have Game?  Are they ever really tested? This lack of being tested means you have no idea if they have Game or not but everyone loves barnstormers. There is something heroic and thrilling about barnstormers which draws the soul.

My dog Boy is a barnstormer.  When we pulled him out of a fighting kennel, Boy was already retired and in their breeding program, without much in the way of scaring. That is pretty good indication he ran through 3-5 other dogs quickly. My old neighbors thought their dogs were bad ass and they didn’t need to keep their mutts out of Boy’s yard. They rolled up into Boy’s yard while he was chilling in the warm sun. He killed those other dogs out right. It would take me more time to tell the story then it did for Boy to get his job done and the only doctoring he needed afterward was a bath and some hydrogen peroxide. That’s a barnstormer, and it’s bad ass to behold but has Boy’s Game ever really been tested?

My Lady Pit has Game. She is down for pretty much anything. She is happy to jump on the bike and ride, she is thrilled to be on the boat with me, she especially loves the truck and off roading. That’s a low level of Game but it’s there. She loves to hunt and will be hunting pigs with me before long. Thats another level of Gane. She is happy to see friendly people, she is quick as quick gets to stand between us and whatever/ who ever she doesn’t like. She dislikes the lawn mower and will attack it on sight. Funny as hell but a pain in the ass too. More Game. Took her to my buddy’s farm and she suddenly remembered her genetic purpose and went after his bull. The bull sent her flying and as soon as she stopped bouncing she was up and after the bull again. I said she has Game. Didn’t say she was smart but on a more serious note we have a 5 foot or so alligator that likes to hang out on our side of the river. Not big enough to be much of a threat to an adult but plenty big enough to eat her or harm a child. My Lady Pit hates that thing with a burning passion. She is always on the look out for the gator and chases it off when ever she sees it. That’s Game

My dog Girl has Dead Game. Shoot that bitch and she will still run your ass out of the house. That’s how she came to me. I trust my family’s safety to her. I send my Girls and sons on the road or leave them behind with no real concern about men harming them because Girl will not fail to act, even if all she does is buy them time with her life. That’s Dead Game.

See the difference? Some men are barnstormers, some few have Dead Game, a goodly number have Game to vary degreess and a bunch are just prey.

Never trust prey. Ever. They will get you killed, rat you out or fuck you over when the suck shows up. Lucky for us, it’s pretty damn easy to tell prey.

A man with Game can be trusted to whatever extent he has Game. Determining how much Game a man has is tricky bidness outside military life. I know the police and fire academies test for Game. Sports are a test of Game but doesn’t seem to me most boys and men are tested very often or particularly hard.

A man with Dead Game can be trusted. However he is human and will fuck up. Nice thing about men with Dead Game is when they break your trust it’s due to extrene circumstances, or a fuck up not a fuck over. One can be forgiven, the other should never be forgotten

A barnstormer? Who knows? Maybe he has been tested, maybe he hasn’t. I would watch barnstormers the closest.  It’s diffcult to see if men like this have Game because they tend to over come obstacles with ease. It’s natural to trust barnstormers, something about human nature draws us to them, human or k9 version. I suggest you show extra caution with trusting such men.

In all things be patient and wise until it’s time to act, then hit hard, fast and while the other guy ain’t looking.  Figuring out who to trust, how far to trust them and what to trust them with is no different. Slow your roll, wait, observe, weigh their actions.

Way back when I was a young Ranger, we had this fat kid in our fireteam. Fat Kid had Game. That fat fuck never once gave up. He probably came in last place on just about everything we were rated on but he always made the standard, no matter what it cost him. Fat Kid never fell out of a road march or run. Even when he broke 3 toes and had 8 clicks to walk.  Fat Kid had Dead Game and as much as we ragged on him for being a fat pain in the ass, the man never gave up and always kept his shit tight when things got bad. You could trust Fat Kid with your life and we did. He was a soild dude

Finding out who has Game is the function of pretty much every non occupation producing military school there is. And most sports worth the name test a man’s Game. Conventional military units are tested much less then SOCOM units but they are tested and there is the tier system within SOCOM. Pee-Wee wrestling tests a boys Game, the Olympic wrestlers are tested a lot harder. The higher up the tier system the harder the tests, the more Game the man has. In simple terms. It’s more complex then that but let’s keep it simple.

Men need to be tested to develop Game Dog Game. Really tested, not stayed after school and worked really hard on his homework when he was having trouble in caculs tested. We admire Dead Game above all else. Those 300 Spartans, Christ facing the cross instead of using His Devine powers to side step the horror of crucifixion, every ballsy mo for with a CMH. We as men respect men with that congressional medal but shake our heads in WTF at congressional  medals of freedom for faggy shit.

Testing men outside the military is a good deal more difficult. We here in the West live in an incredibly soft, civilized, pussy of a world. Typically civilian life is so soft I find it diffcult to related to men who haven’t served. The gulf between their world and reality is usually beyond my ability to bridge. I ain’t bullshitting when I say I trust my rifle, the Ranger next to me and my Pit Bull. They have all been tested again and again. It’s hard to know who to trust, to what degree and what topic to trust them during these soft times.

There are ways men test themselves here in the West. Sports is the easy example and the higher the risk of physical harm the better the test, though I am not sure how reliable a loyalty test it is if it’s an individual sport. There are all sorts of cool shit dudes can do to test themselves and build soild masculine bonds like 36 hours of Uwharrie. If it’s tough on the body, mind and spirit, with a realistic chance of injury and expectation of playing while hurt, it’s a legit test.

Life tests a lot of men. Some dudes get mountian high piles of shit dropped on them. Every man gets beat down, a man with Game gets back up.

Gangs get this notion of testing. To earn your way into a 1% crew you have to spend some time as a hang around where the patch holders get an idea of what kind of man you are. Then you are invited to prospect and if you meet their criteria, all patch holders will vote on your acceptance. 1 no vote and it’s a no. They do this for the obvious reasons like not wanting to patch in an informant, but they want to test you for more day to day shit too. Will you put the patch and club above all else? Do you run from a fight? Do you whine like a bitch on long rides through thunderstorms? Do you do dumb shit that creates problems?

A police and fire acedmey will tests recruits for Game. Everyone else wants to know less important shit like your GPA, which college you went to, credit score and the like

Gangs, the military,  cops and firefighters are all tested for Game. John the IT guy three cubicles over? Probably not so much

I don’t trust men without Game, but even men with Game will fail.

No matter how Game a man is, he can be broken. I remember going to SERE school and the men who thought they couldn’t be broken. We all broke. Not typically through pain or via physical misery but through clever manipulation during a weakened state but none the less, there you are, on video admitting to all sorts of shit it would be physically impossible for you to do. Men have limits on what they can and should endure in everyday life as well. All of this applies to less extreme things then water boarding and being shoved into a 55 gallon drum full of water for 12 hours. Water boarding works in minutes but we all face a more mundane grind every day, some more extreme then others, and we all have our limits. Different limits on different sucks per man

This isn’t a call to trust no one. That’s an empty life but be careful who you trust, why you trust them, how far you trust them and what you trust them with. You may trust one friend to never turn his back on you when things are bad but never want to follow his buiness advice or even confide in him if he is a blabber mouth. Be aware all men have limits, myself/ ourselves included. I’ve been broken. I would rather go back into that 55 gallon drum of water then still be married. Trust tested men, men who have been through some shit and who came out the other end wiser and harder then before but. Keep your own counsel, keep your cards close and realize we don’t live in a movie. We live here in the real world where good men will let you down, sometimes deliberately but often enough through casual negelince and ignorance and on rare occasions due to extrene circumstances.

I think this recognition of our limits and the limits of others is the heart and soul of real world humility. Biblical humility. It’s healthy and natural vs the your a worthless worm version of humility that is preached today. A lot of men carry heavy burdens that would break some other man, while that some other man carries a burden that would break others. It’s the way of things.

This trust issue is another reason I lean toward a heavy dose of Stoicism. We can only control how we react to life not the world around us. By all means embrace deep masculine friendships. Go out and do ballys shit as part of a team but have realistic expectations about yourself and then men around you.

Easy Rider; 30 days in the wind and under the sky

Well I am planning my next ride. Not my most challenging ride ever so I am being slack on the planning but this post should help folks who are sort of new to long distance ridding or camping or the combination of both.

I want to do 30 days under the sky, the bike (and sidecar) dog and me. This will be a proof of concept test ride for my trip to Alaska next year. I will meet up with a couple of friends, test out the gear, see how things go with the dog and side car plus route recon ie explore some areas so I won’t get sidetracked when I do the Deadhorse AK  run, tryout some camping spots, meet some guys who own bike shops along the route in case I have problems etc etc.

I have done some hard ridding over the years, and loved setting out with nothing much more then a saddle roll, a gun, pocket full of cash and a toothbrush stuff into my boot top. I took a great deal of pride in ridding coast to coast with limited gear or old-school gear our great-grandfathers would have used. The wear and tear has added up and I got to start throttle back some so I can stay on the road longer. Plus Alaska is a no shit kind of ride and I want to ensure my gear is good to go and comfortable for 11000 miles, round trip.

The 1st thing I tend to before rolling out on long rides like this is the bike. If I had a particular destination in mind I would start with route selection, but I’ll be mostly fucking off on this ride.  I keep my bikes in good working order and all I needed for this trip was new break pads. Because I ride often I understand how long tires and breaks last given my bike and ridding style.  Because I ride almost daily, the battery stays charged and healthy. All my lights work, all oils, break and clutch fuild checked out fine, both in quantity and quality. I tightened every mounting bracket and hardware I could get a tool one without removing the tank or fairing. Anything that was loose got some thread locker to help keep things in place. I also readjust my highway pegs. They always slip on long rides and I want to start off in the most comfortable position.

Next I look at my tools. Normally I am a tool snob but snobbery is wasted on roadside tools. These things stay in my saddle bags for months at a time. Typically they don’t come out of their bags unless I am cleaning them for a road trip. They all got a nice WD40 bath/ rub down. I carry a toolkit I picked up from Cycle Gear  for $40. I use to cary a lot more tools but bikes have improved, a lot and so has my tool skillz and my thinking. Fact is you only need a few tools to help get yourself back on the road, and the more experience you aquire the easier it becomes to get by on less. My tools are in small zip lock bags, and then placed into customs tool bags designed to fit into some of the dead spaces of a Harley’s saddle bag. They look like “L”‘s and i bought them at a bike rally years ago. These are nice because space is at a premium on a bike. There are a lot of small, clever items like that out there for biked, especially Harleys. I have a small electrical repair kit, wire, fuses, circuit tester and some bulbs. There are fuel cans designed to fit into the dead space of a Harley’s saddle bag. In theory they hold a gallon of fuel, I figure it’s more like. 8 gallons when you figure in spillage but I have one in each saddle bag plus a quart of oil in each bag and a small, unopened bottle of DOT 5 break fuild, which for me takes care of both the clutch and breaks. 1.6 gallons of fuel extends my range by 45+ miles. Not to many places in the lower 48 where you are more then 45 miles from gas or help.

Because I ride often, I get the maximum life out of my batteries but I still cary one of those portal jump start boxes. Any one of us can leave the lights on over night and drain our battery. No point be stranded when $80 will get you back on the road if you do something dumb.

By far the most common problems I see on long trips is shit falling off bikes and tires. People tend to strap shit everywhere on these long trips. I bring a goodly number of zip ties in a variety of sizes, plus duct tape and electrical tape. I bring 3 ways to repair and inflate tires. The most simple is fix-a-flat. You can find small bike size cans of it on the interwebz. I bring two tire patch kits, two -45 gram size cans of compressed air, two cans of fix-a-flat and a small air compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter on my bike. I keep the fix-a-flat handy but it’s all cross loaded between the  bags.

I always cross load my gear so loosing a bag or something loosing it’s water resistant seal or a bag opening up on the road and dumping its contents while I ride or any number of things won’t leave me zero balance on something important.

I also keep a set of frog togs for riding in bad weather on my bike, two cords to charge my phone/ tablet, WD40, JB weld, super glue, thread locker, roll of quarters, 3 hondos stashed in 3 different places, two lighters, ear plugs, ear buds, baby wipes, sun block, rubbers, spare set of sunglasses, two sets of clear eye protection, pair of smart wool socks, baby powder and more zip lock bags. Just about everything goes into a zip lock bags before being packed into a weather resistant bag. Double the water proofing. Ever and always double down on water proofing your shit

One of the reasons I suggest Harleys to folks is the support gear that goes with them. I have a set of these that pair up with the fuel cans. Very helpful product. Easy to get in and out of your saddle bags even after you pack a lot of shit into them. Something like this let’s you keep all manner of small stuff handy. Like chapstick, sun block and bolts to throw through windshields. My least favorite way to add extra storage but they are helpful. These sit on top of the saddled bags. They look like ass but are hella convient, easy on and easy off.  I keep stuff I need quickly or stuff I need everyday in these bags. Fix-a-flat, socks, toothbrush etc and stuff I want to take indoors with me if I am saying in hotels or with friends. Two easy quick connect fasteners and off you go with the shit you need for a night or two. My camping stuff goes into one these, with the tent and sleeping bag rolled up and stuffed into the bag on top.

I use a homemade version of this to hold my tablet to the gas tank. Again, looks ugly, works like a boss, putting my map/ navigation and music within easy reach. Use to be back in the day you had to stop to read your map, or write your exits numbers and milage on your tank with a grease pencil. Now you look down and there is a 10 inch, live update map, turn by turn directions and local weather reports courtesy of Google, not to mention Molly Hatchet pouring out your speakers .

I have a lot of storage on my bike and yet space is a major factor when camping off a bike, even more so when you plan on staying out for 30 days. A lot of shit will happen in 30 days, some you can predict. Some you cant. Somethings will certinaly happen, but you can’t predict when. Like when you will get rained on. You need to pick gear that will cover more then one oh shit or you will consume your space in no time. I will have the side car, but that will be full of dog and dog stuff. Normally how you pack, with the weight evenly disturbed is an important factor as well, but the side car makes it less so.

The number one way to save space is to cut down on the clothes your bring. Which means buying a new shirt and new pair of socks every few days or doing a small load of laundry every few days, or getting really fucking nasty. Or some combination of all three. Well I don’t wear underdraws so that will save space. I will  be wearing under armor shirts and socks ie $$$ so that will mean laundry every few days or smelling really, really bad. Body order and wood smoke gets rank. I’ll probably do laundry every 4th day. Which means packing 4 pairs of socks, 2 extra shirts (one long sleeve, one short sleeve) and one pair of gym shorts for when I am washing my britches. Weather can vary a lot during this time of year but not so much I need to bring a lot of winter gear. Once again it will be under armor stuff, this time the long John type. That plus ridding leathers, gloves and a pair of smart wool socks will get the job done and then some.

Ps don’t forget the shower shoes

Part two will cover the camping gear I plan on bringing, how I will eat and drink and sleep.
